A Great Show at Uptown Comedy Club in Atlanta,GA

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who came out to the show last Thursday May 3, 2o12 at Uptown Comedy Club. It was a dope show for real. The show was produced by my home girl Chaunte Wayans and myself. We basically put everything together within a matter of days. I ran into Chaunte at Carolines on Broadway a few weeks back when we did Cipha Sounds’ Don’t Get Gassed Comedy show and she mentioned she was living in Atlanta now. After a few jokes and laughs she said she wanted to produce a monthly show at Uptown Comedy Club in the A. So me being the person I am, about two weeks later I hit her on an early morning text (even earlier than I thought because she was on the west coast at the time) asking what’s up with getting a show popping for Friday May 4th. I had no intentions on being in town, but if we could book that date, I would make it happen. We ended up getting May 3rd which worked out better because we celebrated my boy Darius’s birthday. Once we got the confirmation of the night, I took to Facebook and hit up everyone I knew still living in Atlanta via text. Before the night was over I had over 80 reservations for the night. I had no idea that so many people from Facebook, family members, friends from Amityville, college and co-workers would be so supportive. Needless to say the show went over well. There was about 140 people there with the combine efforts of Chaunte, Darius and his birthday party and the love of my family and friends. It felt good to see familiar faces in another town showing support for that skinny kid from Amityville. Even had time to get my nails done at SOAK Nail & Body Lounge, owned by another Amityville product Rochelle Purchase-Wright. Much love my peoples and next up is Washington, D.C. Special shout out to my brother from another mother Jauron who made the road trip with me. Good times as usual and another one for books my brother … …. We gonna make it!!

Comedian Jamie Roberts and NBA Legend Mr. Walt Clyde Frazier

So this past Saturday night March 31, I was honored to meet the great Walt Clyde Frazier. I was suppose to host the midnight show NY Comedy Club but it was cancelled, so I chopped it up with my dude Truck Hudson about the comedy scene for about 20-25 minutes. I learned a few things and I appreciate real dudes in this high school we call comedy. He said he was going down to the Cellar, but I got a text earlier saying come through and celebrate Walt’s birthday at his new restaurant on 37th street and 10th avenue. I didn’t know what to expect when I got there because The Knicks played earlier at home and won and who knows what kind of crowd would be there at this time. So I said good night to everyone at the club and made my way over to the spot. The place was huge and the decor was dope. I walked in shook some hands and exchaged a few laughs on my way towards the bar. They were just saying last call so I made sure I got at least one in before they shut down the bar. There was birthday cake at the bar and it went well with my drink, a signature Walt Clyde Frazier saying, swishing and dishing. They had the Knicks game on replay and I had a half of battery life on my phone, so I was good. And that’s when Mr. Frazier himself walked up to say thanks to everyone and he was heading out. I introduced myself to him, and let him know I would be back soon. “You’re a comedian? When are you going to play the garden?” Good question Mr. Frazier, good question.

Thanks to Hot 97′s Cipha Sounds and Carolines on Broadway

Last Tuesday I performed with my man Cipha Sounds from Hot97′s Morning Show on his Don’t Get Gassed Comedy series at Carolines on Broadway. Although I’ve worked with Cipha Sounds before on my shows, it was the first time I was able to perform on his show. I ran into a lot of familiar faces in the green room and just walking to Carolines. I walked in with my man Uncutt from @Uncuttink and instantly you could feel the energy in the room. The crowd was a great mixture of tourists, new yorkers, industry heads and every day working people all wanting to have a great time. My boy Comedian Lord was there and we laughed about always seeing eachother everywhere. We did a show together down in Deleware about a month ago which was the first time I’ve worked the road with him. He’s a real good dude in this comedy arena. Cipha tells me I’m first which is always good especially with a crowd like this, but I know better once I see how things start to move. I get to the green room and my homegirl Chaunte Wayans is in there. Nothing but laughs when we see eachother. The lineup changed and I ended up going on 4th but it was well worth the wait. Chaunte Wayans who was in town from Atlanta went first, then David “Sauce” Foster who is a good friend and a damn good writer followed, then a contestant from the April Fool’s Comedy competition Hot97 was doing went up (he was decent), and then they called my name. I was talking with Comedian Lord about a minute before I went up and I told him I blacked out. I forgot what I wanted to talk about tonight. But somehow some way, when they call your name, your mind switches and it’s showtime!!! Thanks again Cipha and Carolines on Broadway..
